Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever
Contents of the Project
1. Establishment of operating lines and the sub-committee in charge of treatment, epidemiology, entomology and serology.
2. Trainings: Enhancement of professional knowledge and skills of epidemiological surveillance, including monitoring of patients, vectors, serum and virus, the sensitivity and chemical resistance of vectors; statistical processing data, making reports and using geographic information systems GIS in the management, monitoring and prevention of dengue.
3. Propagandizing and educating the community on active prevention of DHF. Diversifying the means of media: television, radio, hoarding, posters, banners, flyers …, the contests, educational games, integrated propaganda of people in meetings, conferences and workshops. Continuous innovation of communication-education contents to attract the attention of the community. In conjunction with the National campaign on cleaning up the environment to mobilize community participation in Dengue prevention. Putting contents of Dengue prevention in curriculum and extra-curricular of primary and secondary schools.
4. Maintaining regularly and effectively operations of collaborator network in the community. Collaborators are the major force to implement activities against Dengue fever in the community. Holding briefings with collaborators monthly, monitoring and inspecting activities of collaborators at the households and improving knowledge, skills for collaborators. Mobilizing and encouraging their enthusiasm and the willingness.
5. Implementing activities to prevent DHF in the community, giving priorities to measures such as killing mosquito larvae, controlling vectors, sanitation of places where are breeding of mosquito larvae, using chemicals to kill or drive away mosquitoes, early detection of patients/DHF and treatment of the disease in health centers.
6. Monitoring, testing, evaluating and rewarding:
Active epidemiological surveillance, early detection and timely intervention, localized outbreak and implementing measures to effectively stamp out epidemics.
Checking, directing and supervising the implementation of dengue prevention activities at all levels, especially focusing on the areas, the provinces and cities which have high morbidity and mortality of DF/DHF.
Briefing and making a preliminary summing up of works monthly and quarterly to learn from experiences and concretize action plans for each units under the direct guidance of the Regional Steering Committee. Evaluating dengue prevention activities in localities to give rewards in time.
7. Scientific Research: Research and collaborative research to find out measures to monitor, diagnose, treat and prevent the disease effectively.
