§ 1926: Hanoi Pasteur institute was founded and belong to Indochina Pasteur network, Dr A.Yersin was Director
§ 3rd Octorber 1945: Hanoi Pasteur institute officialy belong to Vietnam’s Ministry of Health. Dr. Hoàng Tích Trý is the first Vietnamese director.
§ 1st of May 1946: Name of the institute changed into Vietnam bacterology institute. Directors were: Hoàng Tích Trý (1946-1954), Hoàng Tích Mịnh (1954-1955), Nguyễn Văn Hưởng (1956-1958), Hoàng Đức Khởi (1959-1961).
§ From 25th March 1961: The institute named Hanoi Hygiene and epidemiology. Directors were: Hoàng Đức Khởi (1961-1973), Hoàng Thuỷ Nguyên (1974-1994).
§ From 30th November 1998: The institute have the name National institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE). Directors were: Hoàng Thuỷ Long (1994-2004), Nguyễn Trần Hiển (From November 2004 until present).
